The genesis of a wisecracking ham sandwich is the subject of a federal copyright infringement lawsuit an Internet newspaper has filed against The Richards Group,
Dallas, and the Florida Department of Citrus.
Tabloid.net said the suit filed last week in San Francisco seeks damages and an immediate halt to the $20 million Florida orange juice campaign.
The suit alleges Richards used a character similar to one created two years ago for a Tabloid.net weekly column. That smart-aleck sandwich resided in a taxi, dispensing unwanted psychic advice.
