Eight years after opening the Milwaukee office of Bender Browning Dolby & Sanderson, Richard Upton said the lure of working with a national healthcare leader at a shop of national repute was too strong to pass up.

Upton announced his resignation last week to become a senior vice president and group management supervisor at The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va. He will head the Columbia HCA healthcare business.

‘I think the real appeal is I’ve spent so many years in the healthcare and insurance business, and to work with a market leader has some tremendous appeal,’ Upton said.

Upton, 46, opened the Milwaukee office of Chicago-based BBD&S in 1979 and built it to a 23-employee shop with $60 million in annual billings.
