LOS ANGELES Scott Marshall said he is stepping down as chairman and chief executive officer of Publicis & Hal Riney.

Marshall, 50, has been with the Publicis Groupe shop in San Francisco for eight years. He joined the shop in September 1995 as president and became CEO when Hal Riney became chairman emeritus in May 2002. Marshall assumed the chairmanship following the arrival of president Kirk Souder in March.

“I’ve been doing this for 25 years, and for 15 years I’ve been president of an agency,” said Marshall.
