In one sense, rising healthcare costs are good for you. A survey by the Employee Benefit Research Institute and Mathew Greenwald & Associates found 63 percent of people with health insurance had to bear more of the costs themselves in the past year. And their most common reaction has been a healthy one: 81 percent have tried to take better care of themselves. Sixty-six percent have talked to their doctors “more carefully about treatment options and costs.”
