Arnold’s widely praised “Make smoking history” campaign for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Tobacco Control Program will likely return in coming months, though the scope of work depends on the resolution of state budget issues.

“There will be a campaign, but the size is unknown,” said MDPH representative Roseanne Pawelec, who declined to predict spending levels or venture a date for the return of ads while debate continues in the legislature’s bipartisan conference committee.

That process is expected to conclude by month’s end, and—in a best-case scenario—the work could return later this summer, sources said.
