NEW YORK Interpublic Group's Magna Global has named Bill Hilary president of its entertainment division, a new post at the unit that develops and produces branded programming for clients.

Frances Page, principal, strategy and business affairs, and Sunta Izzicupo, principal, prime-time development will report to Hilary, who in turn reports to Magna CEO Bill Cella.

"As the media landscape continues to fragment, the need for strategic programming that meets advertiser needs has become increasingly important," said Cella, in a statement. "Bill Hilary has a proven track record in developing quality original programming in the U.S. and internationally. That experience, coupled with his close ties to the creative community in New York and Los Angeles make him the right person" for the new post.

Most recently, Hilary was president and CEO of cable network BBC America, a position he held for about two years. Prior to that he served as evp and general manager at Comedy Central, where he is credited with helping create programs such as Chappelle's Show, Reno 911 and Crank Yankers.

"At this time, traditional media is being jettisoned into the new world of content creation and consumer choice," said Hilary. "Brands, content, distribution and advertising converge. There are no boundaries. Magna is at the cutting edge of these changes."

Past Magna entertainment efforts have included Door to Door and The Restaurant.
