NEW YORK Incumbents McCann Erickson and Wunderman have retained Lufthansa’s global advertising and direct marketing accounts, respectively, following separate reviews, according to sources.

Interpublic Group’s McCann in Frankfurt, Germany (known as M.E.C.H., or McCann Erickson Communications House), kept Lufthansa’s estimated $70 million global ad account after a review, sources said. The process began in February, with final presentations taking place in mid-May at the client’s Cologne, Germany, headquarters.

Other finalists for the account included Omnicom Group’s DDB in Berlin and Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett in Frankfurt, sources said.
