Which statement is true: (a) Americans want to retire early or (b) Americans want to keep working well past the standard retirement age. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers and the Center for Survey Research and Analysis at the University of Connecticut. “Three-fourths of workers surveyed said they would like to retire from traditional full-time work before they turn 61, and 37 percent of workers would like to retire at or before age 50.”
