Long Haymes Carr defeated two other North Carolina shops to become agency of record for Sealy Corp.
The bedding manufacturer began a review earlier this summer after parting ways with Leo Burnett.
The Winston-Salem winner topped Raleigh’s McKinney & Silver and Trone Advertising in High Point.
The agency estimated billings at more than $20 million, though the budget had previously been reported at less than $15 million.
The Chicago incumbent cited diminished ad spending as the reason for the end of the relationship, while the client, formerly based in Cleveland, said it was seeking a shop closer to its new home in Trinity, N.C.
Competitive Media Reporting lists Sealy’s 1998 ad expenditures at $15 million.
