Viewers are treated to two different endings in one of four new TV spots from McClain Finlon Advertising for Denver-based utility Public Service Co.
In the ad (shown here), a couple hurriedly runs around the house switching off the lights, as a voiceover explains that PSC has the second-lowest residential energy rates among major U.S. cities. Just as the house goes completely dark, another couple (ostensibly obnoxious relatives from out of town) arrive with suitcases. One version ends with the female visitor promising that "we brought money with us this time." Another concludes with the man grumbling that he knows the owners are inside.
The new tagline is, "We're making sure you're getting your money's worth."
"We think viewers will be interested in seeing how it ends each time," said PSC representative Cynthia Evans.
The $1 million-plus campaign, which broke last week, is the utility's first major ad effort in two years. Evans said the goal is to convey that PSC offers value, reliability and performance.
