WASHINGTON, D.C. Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst plans to introduce a measure this week to raise money for the state’s school system by placing a tax on advertising services and media. The proposal is expected to be structured as a constitutional amendment for the November general election ballot.

Other cash-strapped states have either adopted similar proposals or are considering them. Connecticut passed an ad tax on creative services Feb. 25 to help fill a nearly $900 million budget deficit.
