DALLAS Marble Slab Creamery, a Houston-based premium ice cream chain with 270 stores, has awarded its advertising account to Levenson & Hill after a review, the company said.

Billings are estimated at $1 million. The Houston incumbent, independent Stan & Lou Advertising, did not contend.

With 150 new stores in development, Marble Slab was named one of the Top 50 Growth Chains by Restaurant Business magazine in 2004. With stores in 28 states from coast to coast, the creamery recently opened an outlet in Canada and has awarded a franchise in the Persian Gulf nation of Dubai, said president Ronald J. Hankamer.

"Our expectation of even more rapid expansion and more intense competition to come led us to seek out an agency that could help us build the Marble Slab brand," Hankamer said.

Levenson & Hill will handle market planning, advertising and promotion for Marble Slab's network throughout the United States, the company said.

Based in Dallas, Levenson & Hill is an independent with $75 million in annual billings, the agency said. Specializing in retail, restaurant and entertainment-related business, the shop serves clients such as Church's Chicken, Papa John's Pizza, Zales Jewelers and Warner Bros.
