Lewis Advertising fought off 14 competitors in a grueling five-month review to retain its Outer Banks (N.C.) Visitors Bureau tourism account.

Billings are estimated at $1.2 million. A new broadcast and print campaign breaks in first-quarter 2001.

The Rocky Mount, N.C., shop has served the bureau since 1996.

“We were surprised by the number of large agencies interested in the account,” said Carolyn McCormick, OBVB managing director who oversaw the review.
