On Dan Fietsam’s “The New Optimism” [A+C, Feb. 10]: Dan, when you crawl out from under the rock you think is “this ad business thing we do,” let me know if you’ve heard your own heart thump a beat lately that wasn’t programmed by the massive, mega-hip propaganda club you seem invested in impressing.

Our business can be more than subversively manipulating people to “touch the brand.” That is, if we strive to represent something a wee bit greater than the sum of all the “authentic,” “legitimate,” “credible” poop we’ve been force-feeding each other.
