Bob Kresser, K/C president, claimed they missed out primarily because the client is determined to deal with key agency contacts who are in a time zone closer to the East Coast. That’s the very reason Kresser thought the link with an East Coast shop would help his shop into the review, as West Coast agencies had earlier been eliminated from the contest over the issue of time difference.
According to sources close to the review, Audi finalists are New York shops Ammirati & Puris; Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor; Kirshenbaum & Bond; and Cliff Freeman & Partners; Carmichael Lynch/Minneapolis; McKinney & Silver/Raleigh, N.C.; and Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos/Boston.
This won’t be the end of the K/C-W & L relationship, according to Kresser. He said the two agencies will work together to get into the pitch for Korean automaker Kia.
Sources said Kia executives have told agencies they will complete staffing by May 20 and launch a review immediately afterward, though sources have also said Kia has begun discussions with agencies.
Eventually, Kresser hopes the W & L relationship will help the shops into other, national pitches.
