boston—Kelliher Samets Volk has hired Tom Holmes to oversee new-business development in the newly created position of senior brand manager.

Separately, in ad-vance of Holmes' arrival, the Burlington, Vt.-based shop has added assignments from ski company Dynastar, specialty-foods marketer Dakin Farms and the Coalition for Tobacco-Free Vermont. Combined spending is in excess of $1 million.

KSV senior management be-lieves bringing Holmes aboard will help the shop maintain its momentum and help it build business at its fledgling Boston office.

"He brings incredible organization and capabilities to business development," said Yoram Samets, managing director of KSV, which notched 25 percent gains in billings and revenue in 2001 to $36 million and $5 million, respectively.

Samets has said that a key goal is making the Boston office larger than the Burlington headquarters. KSV established the outpost after it absorbed Orsatti & Partners last March.

Initially, Holmes will split time between the Burlington and Boston offices. After about six months, he expects to relocate to Vermont.

Most recently, Holmes was director of business development for six years at Allen & Gerritsen in Watertown, Mass. During his tenure at A&G, which is the region's largest independent agency, the shop began working with clients such as Cambridge Technology Partners, Genzyme and HomeGoods. Holmes' successor will soon be named.

"I'd like to help bring some recognition to KSV for all of the great branding work they're doing and help them grow," said Holmes.

Dynastar, the Burlington-based sister firm of Rossignol, has tapped KSV to craft a campaign touting its new line of women's skis. The effort breaks in September and will include print, event-focused promotions and public relations work.

For Dakin Farms, KSV this month will launch print ads de-signed to help the company, which operates mostly through catalogs, expand its retail business. Dakin's two stores offer foodstuffs such as maple syrup and specialty cheeses.

KSV is also working on a grassroots campaign for the Coalition for Tobacco-Free Vermont in Montpelier, Vt.
