DETROIT Ford Japan has chosen J. Walter Thompson Tokyo to handle its advertising, the agency said. The incumbent was Hakuhodo.

The automaker's Japanese division was the final holdout to align with the WPP Group agency. With the win, JWT will handle Ford in 12 Asia-Pacific markets, which is expected to lead to increased efficiency and effectiveness throughout the region, according to a statement from the agency.

Billings were not disclosed. JWT is lead agency for Ford Motor Co. in the U.S.
