CHICAGO–As expected, Rick Kemp has been named executive vice president, executive creative director of J. Walter Thompson here, the company said today.

Kemp, 40, the executive creative director of the agency’s Toronto operations has been the lead candidate for the position, which opened after Dennis Ryan left the agency in November [December 3, 2001]. Ryan took the chief creative post at the new Omnicom agency formed to handle PepsiCo business.

Kemp’s extensive work for Kraft, a key JWT Chicago client, made him a top contender.
