CHICAGO — J. Walter Thompson Chicago president Brian Heffernan has resigned after four years running the office, an agency representative said.

Bob Jeffrey, JWT’s president of North America, will take over Heffernan’s Chicago post until a replacement is found, the representative said. Heffernan’s departure is not a great surprise and the agency has been looking for someone else to run the office for several weeks, sources said.

The office has run into trouble with two major clients recently.
