ATLANTA JWT said it has successfully defended its $5 million U.S. Virgin Islands advertising account.

The WPP Group Atlanta shop has held the account since 2001 and defended it twice. Federal law requires an annual account review, although JWT has been granted a yearlong extension after each win. The other finalist was gkv, an independent shop in Baltimore.

The work includes creative and media planning and buying. JWT will produce national print and broadcast ads that will launch next spring.
