BOSTON–A 90-second commercial for John Hancock Financial Services will air during the opening and closing ceremonies of the winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
In “Sarajevo,” which was filmed over 11 days in the host city of the 1984 winter Olympics, young people from the region speak of how witnessing the games helped them persevere through the war-torn years that followed. The spot features the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Samuel Barber’s haunting “Adagio for Strings,” the theme song from Schindler’s List.
Created by Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston, the commercial was written by Ernie Schenck and art directed by Jamie Mambro.
