NEW YORK Ogilvy & Mather has won creative ad duties on Johnson & Johnson’s sponsorship of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, the client has confirmed.

J&J selected the WPP Group agency over four other contenders: roster shops McCann Erickson and Lowe and outsiders TBWA and JWT, according to sources. Ogilvy also is a roster shop. (Adweek Online on April 18 broke the news of Ogilvy’s selection.)

“Ogilvy & Mather demonstrated that they have great understanding of the Chinese culture and will provide us with great creative and strategic ideas through a strong and supportive team,” a client representative said on Thursday.
