Jiffy Lube Co-op Parks at Sedgwick Rd.

LOS ANGELES Interpublic Group's Sedgwick Rd. has won the $3 million regional Jiffy Lube advertising account, the client confirmed.

Sedgwick Rd. won the review last week against Seattle independent Copacino + Fujikado, after Seattle indies WongDoody and Hadley Green had been cut from the final four, said Gene Thompson, CEO of Seattle-based Thompson Family Jiffy Lubes, which co-owns the ad cooperative with Heartland Automotive.

The incumbent was independent Kovel/Fuller, Culver City, Calif., which retains a portion of the regional business. MMB, Boston, is the national agency of record.

"The Sedgwick presentation was innovative," said Thompson. "We may not produce it, or may only use pieces of it, but it was incredibly creative."

"Kovel/Fuller did an excellent job for us," Thompson added. "It was just time for a new direction."

"It was easy to get excited about it because, at the end of the day, it involves cars," said Jim Walker, president of Sedgwick Rd., Seattle. "We have a lot of people here with automotive experience."

Walker said Scott Stripling, copywriter, and Mishy Cass, art director, would be the lead creative team assigned to the business.

Jiffy Lube, a Shell Oil company, is based in Houston.
