Tom Cavanagh, a veteran Southern California car advertising executive, has switched sides.
Cavanagh has joined American Isuzu Motors as director, advertising/communications, according to a representative of the Cerritos, Calif.-based car maker.
Cavanagh has worked on several car accounts in his career, including BMW and Isuzu. He spent seven years at Ketchum Advertising (later Fathom) in Los Angeles, where he ran the dealer side of the Acura business as senior vice president and management supervisor. He later served as a consultant to Ogilvy & Mather's Los Angeles office on the Mazda pitch.
Since leaving Fathom, he has worked as a consultant. Most recently, he advised Marketing And in Culver City, Calif., on promotions and positioning on various projects.
Executives at Isuzu agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco labeled Cavanagh's appointment a "positive" development.
