NEW YORK-Canada’s Imperial Tobacco, maker of Player’s, du Maurier, Matinee and other cigarette brands, has hired consultant Richard Roth Associates to lead a search for a U.S. shop to “assist the client in some marketing initiatives,” sources said.
Currently, Bates Worldwide handles the U.S. portion of the account. Its Montreal office, Armada Bates, handles the bulk of the client’s advertising account in Canada.
The client has yet to brief the Chappaqua, N.Y., consultancy on the details. Imperial currently targets Canadian consumers on vacation in the U.S.
