The Illinois State Treasurer’s office is in the early stages of a review for a $3-4 million account advertising the new Bright Start College Savings Program.
A qualified state tuition program, known as a 529 plan, Bright Start gives participants tax deferral on several investment options.
The state office is looking for the agency that can “best explain what these packages do,” said program coordinator Bartt Stevens.
The review is not restricted to Illinois shops, but local agencies are preferred, Stevens said.
