Huffy Sports Taps Finalists

CHICAGO-Huffy Sports Basketball Systems has narrowed its review to three agencies, including the incumbent.
Competing are incumbent Celtic Advertising, Milwaukee; Nelson & Schmidt, Milwaukee; and Goebel Marketing Associates, Greensboro, N.C., said Patrick Ehren, marketing manager at Sussex, Wis.-based Huffy Sports Basketball Systems. The division of Huffy Corp., best known for its bikes, sells basketball backboards and rims through retailers including Kmart, Wal-Mart and Sports Authority. Huffy initially invited about 20 shops to the review.
Huffy spent $300,000 in 1996 on measured media, according to Competitive Media Reporting.
A decision is expected by the end of September.
