NEW YORK — John Huey, who had been editor of the Fortune group of magazines at the Time Inc. magazine unit of AOL Time Warner Inc., was named editorial director of all Time Inc. publications Tuesday.

He succeeds Walter Isaacson, who Monday was appointed chairman and chief executive of AOL Time Warner’s (AOL) CNN operations. Mr. Huey’s appointment is effective immediately.

In making the announcement, Norman Pearlstine, Time Inc.’s editor-in-chief, said he would also alter the nature of the editorial director job and the editorial management structure at the magazine group.
