Goodby, Optimedia to Lead HP Ad Efforts

SAN FRANCISCO—Hewlett-Packard Co. has named Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, lead agency for worldwide branding and Publicis Groupe S.A., including Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, its global agency for products, according to the Palo Alto, Calif.-based client. Publicis Groupe’s Optimedia will handle media buying. Before HP merged with rival Compaq, the two companies used several agencies for marketing and advertising. FCB Worldwide was Compaq’s lead agency.
