AOL to Run Super Bowl Ads

NEW YORK—America Online made a last-minute end-run into the Super Bowl to push its AOL Broadband service. Sources said the company made plans with nearly all of this year’s advertisers to have their ads rerun on AOL during the game’s fourth quarter. AOL purchased one 15-second spot and received one mention of the promotion during pre-game and one during the event. Omnicom Group’s BBDO was brought in to create the ad, sources said.
