McDonald's Taps P&G Exec for Top Marketing Post
CHICAGO—McDonald's made a top-level marketing hire, bringing in Kay Napier from Procter & Gamble as svp, marketing, a global post. Napier was hired by Larry Light, recently appointed global chief marketing officer, but her initial focus will be the U.S. She will work with Bill Lamar, named svp of marketing for McDonald's USA this summer. Napier was a vp and general manager at Procter & Gamble, where she worked with North America Pharmaceuticals and Corporate Women's Health & Vitality.
Publicis: Bcom3 Integration Will Save $60 Mil.
NEW YORK—Publicis Groupe last week told analysts it expected to save about $60 million in synergies through the integration of Bcom3 and its agencies. The company also said it would take a charge of $90 million in restructuring costs. Separately, John Farrell, worldwide CEO of D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, has accepted a top post at Publicis, sources said. Farrell has been in negotiations with the shop for at least two weeks about a position as worldwide CEO of Publicis' Specialized Agency Marketing Services. That offer came after Publicis Groupe, the parent of Publicis and D'Arcy, announced it would dissolve the D'Arcy network by the end of this year.
Colle + McVoy, VML Win Bayer Pesticide Work
CHICAGO—Bayer Environmental Science named two shops to handle its marketing communications, following a review. Colle + McVoy, Minneapolis, will oversee b-to-b and business-to-professional communications, while VML, Kan sas City, Mo., will take on interactive communications and a consumer effort for Bayer Home Health's termite control, said a company official. Other contenders were Valentine Radford, Kansas City, Mo.; Ferrare & Fleming, Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; and Tierney Communications, Philadelphia. Billings were not disclosed. VR and Ferrare & Fleming were incumbents on different portions of the business.
New Infiniti Spots Set to Debut From TBWA\C\D
LOS ANGELES—Two spots from TBWA\Chiat\Day in Playa del Rey, Calif., bow on Nov. 4 to debut Infiniti's G35 coupe. The ads are meant to position the car as fast and luxurious while distinguishing it from the Nissan Z.
Former D'Arcy Creative Joins Rapp Collins
DALLAS—Rapp Collins has hired traditional agency veteran Martin Macdonald to strengthen the direct response shop's creative. Macdonald joins as chief creative officer after a year of freelancing for various clients. Before that, he worked on General Motors' Cadillac at D'Arcy, Detroit, where he was svp and creative director from 2000-01.
Stir Wins Review for Optima Batteries
CHICAGO—Stir in Milwaukee picked up ad duties for Milwaukee-based Optima Batteries, a Johnson Controls brand, following a review that included incumbent Marx McClellan Thrun, Milwaukee. Spending was not disclosed.
