AdStreet Signs 7 Retail Businesses

ATLANTA—AdStreet has added seven retail accounts to its client roster. The Cary, N.C., agency will implement advertising and public relations campaigns for Ruth's Cris Steak House, Babalu Grill, EurAsian Harbor and the Havana Club, all in Baltimore. In North Carolina, the shop will represent 13 Ace Hardware stores, part of the Wake County Co-op; Premier Ford, a dealership in Rocky Mount; and a New Balance outlet in Raleigh. Total billings have been estimated at $1-2 million.

Savage Names Korge Design Director

ATLANTA—Savage Design Group has appointed Fred Korge corporate design director. Korge, formerly president of Bates Southwest's corporate design group and co-founder of Baxter + Korge, has worked with an array of clients, including the American Red Cross, Aramco, Exxon USA and Southwestern Bell. Houston-based SDG specializes in the design of corporate, investor, marketing and employee communications.

Oklahoma Newspaper Selects Jordan

ATLANTA—Jordan Associates has been named lead agency for The Oklahoman. The agency won the Oklahoma City newspaper's marketing account—which includes advertising, public relations and sales promotions—in a review against a number of undisclosed local agencies. Billings for the Oklahoma City shop's upcoming print and radio campaign, expected to break this fall, are undisclosed.

C.C. Rigg's Revs Up Createathon

ATLANTA—C.C. Rigg's is gearing up for its fifth annual Createathon, a 24-hour marketing and creative blitz to benefit nonprofit organizations. Established in 1997 by Cathy Ellis and Teresa Coles, partners in the Columbia, S.C., agency, the program is expanding to other Southeast shops willing to donate time and talent to service organizations that typically cannot afford ad services. "We saw the need to better manage the many pro-bono requests that came through our doors," said Ellis. "From a humanitarian standpoint, we saw the need for nonprofits to have the same effective marketing tools that our corporate clients receive."

Orlando Tourism Goes Into Review

ATLANTA—The Orlando (Fla.) Convention & Visitors Bureau has put its advertising account into review, sources said. Among the Florida agencies receiving requests for proposals: Turkel Schwartz & Partners in Miami, WestWayne in Tampa, Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale's Harris Drury Cohen. Peter Cranis, client vice president of consumer marketing, is overseeing the review. Cramer-Krasselt in Orlando is the incumbent. Billings are undisclosed.

Big Communications Aids Restoration

ATLANTA—Big Communications is spearheading a public service outreach campaign to restore the landmark Virginia Samford Theater in Birmingham, Ala. The Birmingham agency has lined up celebrities Dixie Carter and Eartha Kitt in support of the theater's 75th anniversary celebration.
