PwC Taps McCann and Hill, Holliday
BOSTON—McCann-Erickson and Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos last week teamed to win the creative portion of an estimated $80-100 million Pricewaterhouse Coopers assignment to rebrand the client's consulting division. An ad campaign later this year will introduce a new name for the unit, currently known as PwC Consulting. Boston-based Hill, Holliday handles creative in the U.S. for PricewaterhouseCoopers' accounting practice. Interpublic Group sibling McCann handles the accounting business outside the U.S. Other finalists included the U.S. and London offices of DDB, M&C Saatchi and IPG's Lowe, sources said.
A&G Co-Founder Gerritsen to Step Down
BOSTON—Peter Gerritsen, co-founder of Allen & Gerritsen, will leave the $100 million shop effective June 1. Gerritsen, who held the title of evp, formed the Watertown, Mass., agency in 1985 with Paul Allen, who remains A&G's chairman and CEO. In recent years, Gerritsen had relinquished most of his day-to-day management functions. He will remain affiliated with A&G as a consultant and a member of its board of directors.
Staples to Name Semifinalists for Creative Work
BOSTON—Office-supply chain Staples this week is expected to name semifinalists in the review for the creative portion of its $70 million advertising account. Eight-year incumbent Cliff Freeman and Partners, New York, declined an invitation to defend. At least 20 agencies nationwide received RFPs from consultants at Select Resources International earlier this month, and nine shops are expected to make the cut. Following agency visits in May, three or four finalists will be given a positioning assignment by mid-June, with a decision coming in early July, the client said. New England-based agencies that received the RFP include Arnold; Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos; Mullen; Modernista!; and McCarthy Mambro Bertino.
New Creative Leaders for Arnold, Toronto
BOSTON—Arnold has named Tim Kavander and Bill Newbery svps, co-creative directors of Vickers & Benson Arnold, the Havas-owned network's outpost in Toronto. The pair join May 13 from Leo Burnett, Toronto, where they have served as group cds. At Arnold, they succeed executive creative director Larry Gordon, who is leaving the 180-person office.
BOSTON—Mullen was awarded ad chores for Edison Light Beer. The Wenham, Mass., agency takes over from Bos ton's Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos after that shop took on project work from client competitor Anheuser-Busch ... Bennett+Dunne Integrated Marketing has leveraged projects for the Eastern Connecticut Healthcare System into a lead-agency relationship. The shop, in Framingham, Mass., is charged with developing integrated TV, radio, outdoor and direct campaigns … Larson Associates, an Arlington, Mass., landscape-design company, has tapped Silverscape to develop its Web site … Beacon Cos., a real-estate development and management group, has hired Trinity Communications, Boston, to create online and offline marketing.
