Mosallem Hearing PostponedNEW YORK—A U.S. magistrate has ordered Mitch Mosallem's hearing rescheduled to May 22, sources said. Mosallem, the former head of print production at Grey in New York, is charged with mail fraud in connection with allegedly inflated billings on the production of print ads for some of the agency's clients. Mosallem's original hearing was scheduled for April 22, but he had been given permission to travel outside the U.S. from April 3-23, and so the defense and Justice Department prosecutors asked for a 30-day continuance in the case, a source said. The Justice Department's Antitrust Division in Lower Manhattan is handling the investigation. North Castle Plots Hershey Youth PushBOSTON—North Castle Partners has been tapped by Hershey Foods Corp. to develop youth-advertising strategies across various brands, sources said. Executives with North Castle, Stamford, Conn., did not return calls, and Hershey could not be reached. Hershey is in the midst of several marketing moves, including a review for its $175 million media account and "informal discussions" about creative for Hershey's Kisses, Hershey's Chocolate Bars and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups [Adweek, April 15]. Those products are handled by Ogilvy & Mather in New York. Ogilvy and DDB are both believed to be involved. 'Truth' Provokes Philip MorrisATLANTA—Philip Morris USA is asking the State Department of Health in Florida to pull its latest anti-tobacco ad campaign. In a letter to Debra Bodenstine, director of Health Awareness and Tobacco, the company said ads created by Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Miami, for the Florida Department of Health's "Truth" campaign were "inaccurate, misleading, and false with regard to the conduct of Philip Morris International and its affiliates." The work describes Big Tobacco's marketing efforts to third-world countries. In one ad, a group of Marlboro Men lookalikes learns how to say, "Come to Marlboro Country," in Spanish, Mandarin and Swahili. CP+B declined comment. The Florida Department of Health has not responded to the requests. A Florida Department of Health representative said, "Our advertising plan is the same as it has been, and our rotation is continuing."News RoundupJohn Mittnacht, senior partner, account services, has left Bozell in New York, the agency said. Mittnacht was tapped in March 2001 to oversee Verizon Wireless. "We appreciate John's contribution over the last year. However, as we look to the future, a different kind of management is needed," said an agency representative. Sources said Andy Ball, formerly on the account side at IPG sibling Foote, Cone & Belding, will arrive at Bozell soon to lead Verizon Wireless. … Arnold broke two TV ads last week touting McDonald's Dollar Menu with the tagline, "You know what you want." The spots star comic Wayne Brady and singer Alison Krauss. … Pfizer briefed agencies two weeks ago for a direct marketing assignment currently handled by Rapp Collins, sources said. The assignment is estimated at $6 million, sources said. A client representative in New York confirmed that Pfizer was conducting a direct marketing review, declining further comment.
