Contender Emerges in Fallon Search
NEW YORK--The chief executive of a search firm here has emerged as a leading contender for the post of president at Fallon McElligott in New York. Alison Burns of KTNY, a branch of London-based Kendall Tarrant PLC, could be tapped as early as next week. The agency declined comment, noting that it was still talking to candidates. Burns was out of her office Friday and could not be reached for comment. Bill Westbrook, president of the Minneapolis, Minn.-headquartered agency, continues to serve as interim president in New York.

BOSTON--Boston Beer Co. has broadened a review initially for a broadcast-specific project to its entire $10-12 million ad account, after severing ties with Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis, according to a company representative. A Carmichael Lynch official said it has not been decided whether the shop will participate in the review. Finalists are Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Arnold Communications and Holland Mark Martin Edmund, all in Boston; McCann-Erickson, Gotham and Margeotes Fertitta + Partners, all in New York; and The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va.

Dreyfus Narrows its Search to 6
NEW YORK--Dreyfus Corp. here has narrowed its search for a new agency to six contenders that the client began to visit last week. Sources identified them as Angotti, Thomas, Hedge; Ammirati Puris Lintas; Bozell Worldwide; Grace & Rothschild; Partners & Shevack; and Rapp Collins Worldwide, all in New York. The agencies declined comment. The client plans to cut to three this week and pick one by the end of July. Billings are estimated at $30 million. Incumbent Citron Haligman Bedecarrƒ, San Francisco, is not part of the review, which is being conducted by Richard Roth Associates of Chappaqua, N.Y. Roth declined comment.

BBDO West, Los Angeles, has dropped out of the Jenny Craig review. Remaining contenders are incumbents Suissa Miller and Western International Media, Los Angeles; Team One Advertising, El Segundo, Calif.; The Richards Group, Dallas; WongDoody, Santa Monica, Calif., and Seattle; and D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Los Angeles Joe Boxer awarded creative ad duties for its estimated $8-15 million business to Odiorne Narraway Wilde & Partners¸, San Francisco, last week without a review, according to sources. Fallon McElligott, New York, previously handled the business. Executives with San Francisco-based Joe Boxer declined to comment Allied Domecq is eyeing six shops for Kahlœa's estimated $12 million U.S. account, including incumbent Lois/EJL, BBDO and The Leap Partnership, all in Chicago; Lois/EJL in New York (pitching separately from the New York office); ID8 in Los Angeles; and Square One in Dallas.
