A Office Depot Set to Shift $70 Mil. Account ATLANTA--Office Depot is planning to move its $70 million ad account from DeVito/Verdi in New York to Gold Coast Advertising, sources said. The Miami shop held the Delray Beach, Fla., retailer's business for 10 years until 1996. Since then, the account has moved from the Chicago office of J. Walter Thompson to Wyse Advertising in Cleveland to the incumbent. A source said the client and agency mutually agreed to part ways. A representative at Gold Coast referred questions to the client, where a representative would only say that an an announcement regarding the company's ad account would be made by yearend. A Starcom in Line for $100 Mil. in Delta Media chicago--Delta Air Lines is expected to award its $100 million media buying account to Starcom Worldwide here, sources said. The Atlanta-based air carrier is believed to have talked with other media buying companies, including incumbent Zenith Media in New York and Western Initiative Media in Atlanta. Starcom officials declined comment, and Delta officials did not return calls. Starcom and Leo Burnett USA won creative and media planning duties on the account in September. A Bacardi Seeks Another Round of Creative LOS ANGELES--Bacardi-Martini USA is seeking additional creative ideas from contenders pitching its estimated $35 million account, sources said. Mezzina/Brown, New York, and roster shops Avrett, Free & Ginsberg and McCann-Erickson, and possibly others, have been asked to develop new creative approaches. The original assignment, which focused on the brand's Cuban heritage, failed in tests in the U.S. Goodby, Silverstein & Partners has dropped out. A Account Activity Lowe Lintas & Partners has won ad duties for route-finding Web site Mapquest.com, besting fellow New York shops Young & Rubicam and DDB, sources said. Billings are estimated at $10-15 million The Governing Council of the European Central Bank tapped Publicis to conduct an information campaign about the euro, to be introduced in January 2002. The agency beat out Hill & Knowlton and Burson-Marsteller. Billings are estimated at $30-60 million over two years. AAR/Bob Wolf Partners, New York, managed the review The review for Fila Holding S.p.A.'s $60-70 million global account has been narrowed to J. Walter Thompson and the Omnicom Group team of Merkley Newman Harty and BDDP@TBWA, Paris, sources said. BBDO Worldwide was a prior contender Sol, a beer brand partly owned by Labatt USA, will choose a shop by the week of Dec. 1, a client source said. Incumbent Amster Yard, New York, declined to defend the estimated $10 million account, a source said. Contenders are: Mullen, Wenham, Mass.; The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; McKinney & Silver, Raleigh, N.C.; Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, New York; and Bos, Quebec and Toronto.
