Cabletron Selects FinalistsBOSTON--Cabletron Systems in Rochester, N.H., on Friday named three finalists in the review for its estimated $10-15 million account. They are: Allen & Gerritsen in Watertown, Mass.; Donino, White & Partners in Atlanta; and Ketchum Advertising in Pittsburgh, according to Linda Riley, president of Linda Riley Media Services in Saugus, Mass., who is assisting in the search. A final decision is expected by the end of January.Cohn Godley Lands Eastern BankBOSTON--Eastern Bank last week awarded its $2 million ad account to Cohn Godley Norwood here, according to Rick Hooker of Pile and Co., the Boston-based consulting company that handled the agency search. Cohn Godley triumphed over Cronin & Co. in Glastonbury, Conn., and Clarke Goward in Boston. The incumbent, Pagano Schenck & Kay, also in Boston, was not invited to pitch.North Castle to Promote Snack FoodBOSTON--North Castle Partners in Stamford, Conn., has won the advertising account of Cornnuts, according to sources. The Alameda, Calif.-based snack food maker had used the interactive division of Ketchum Advertising in San Francisco for projects until about two months ago, according to a Ketchum representative. The client has not been doing any significant traditional advertising, sources said. Cornnuts spent $2.7 million last year on advertising, according to Competitive Media Reporting. The company was sold to Nabisco, which is taking over Cornnuts in February, sources said. North Castle won an assignment for Nabisco's Life Savers Candy last summer, the agency's first business from the client. Nabisco executives could not be reached for comment.3 in Contest for Levi's FootwearNEW YORK--The Stride Rite Corp., Lexington, Mass., which is planning to introduce Levi's Footwear next year, heard presentations last week from three New York shops. Cliff Freeman and Partners, Mad Dogs & Englishmen and Merkley Newman Harty are competing for the estimated $5 million account, sources said. Agency executives either declined comment or referred calls to the client, which could not be reached. A final decision is expected this week.Pontiac Confirms Bronner WorkBOSTON--Pontiac-GMC last week said Bronner Slosberg Humphrey here is working on direct marketing projects for the General Motors unit, but declined to give further details. "We are doing some work with [Bronner] for Pontiac-GMC and just have some projects going on with them right now," said GM official Mike Gardner. Clarion Marketing & Communications, Greenwich, Conn., has handled direct marketing for Pontiac-GMC. Clarion executives did not return calls, and the agency's status on the account could not be determined at press time. Bronner Slosberg already handles direct marketing for GM's Oldsmobile division and has announced plans to open a Detroit office in order to be close to the automotive giant.
