Fallon Readies New Lee Campaign
CHICAGO--Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis, is expected to unveil a new campaign for Lee jeans this week, according to sources. The campaign will begin with teasers, with a full break expected in July. Sources said the campaign includes spots directed by Spike Jonze, who directed the much-discussed "Doctors" spot in 1996 for Levi Strauss & Co. Fallon has handled Shawnee Mission, Kan.-based Lee Apparel Co.'s account since 1986.

Kovel Kresser Lands Playboy Account
LOS ANGELES--Kovel Kresser & Partners has won the lead role on Chicago-based Playboy Enterprises' estimated $10 million account. Its first assignment is to launch Playboy's first corporate branding campaign in over a decade, with about $3 million in ad support. The agency succeeds The Leap Partnership, Chicago, which has been working on strategic projects. Some Playboy divisions will continue to use their own shops.

Cell Phone Distributor Reviewing
CHICAGO--Brightpoint Inc., an Indianapolis-based distributor of cellular phones, is contacting agencies about its estimated $6-7 million account, according to sources. A Brightpoint representative declined to confirm or deny that it is reviewing the account, now with Pearson, Crahan, Fletcher, England in Indianapolis.

Pep Boys Lands at Needham
CHICAGO--DDB Needham Chicago expects to roll out an early summer campaign for Pep Boys-Manny, Moe & Jack that suggests motorists can achieve a sense of renewal when their vehicle is serviced at one of the Philadelphia-based chain's 700 shops. Needham picked up creative and media responsibilities on the $40 million Pep Boys account last week following a review that also included Bates USA in New York and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, as finalists. The incumbent creative agency was Cliff Freeman and Partners, New York; Pro Media in Natick, Mass., handled media.

Promus Begins Agency Review
DALLAS--Promus Hotel Corp. in Memphis, Tenn., is considering a consolidation of its estimated $40 million account. Promus vice president of marketing Greg Malark said he is collecting information from 16 shops around the country and will choose six or seven to visit in May. Current Promus agencies GSD&M, Austin, Texas, and DDB Needham Dallas will be included, and the account could remain split, Malark said.

Chrysler Launches 300M Campaign
DETROIT--Chrysler Corp. on May 16 breaks one 60-second and four 30-second TV spots nationally for its new 300M sedan. Bozell Worldwide, Southfield, Mich., created the spots, which include a new themeline, "The technology has changed. But the soul lives on," along with its continuing tagline, "Engineered to be great cars." Four teaser spots for the 300M are airing now.
