LHC RESIGNS BANK, WITHDRAWS FROM SHONEY'S ATLANTA-Long Haymes Carr in Winston-Salem, N.C., resigned the estimated $1-2 million account of One Valley Bank in Charleston, W.Va., due to a conflict with larger client Wachovia Bank, which has moved into new markets. One Valley executives were unavailable at press time. Separately, LHC last week cited its workload as the reason for dropping out of the review for Shoney's Restaurants' $26 million account. 3 SHOPS SURFACE IN NATIONAL GUARD REVIEW ATLANTA-The National Guard in Falls Church, Va., is considering three agencies for its $10-13 million ad business, sources said last week. Shops that made presentations late last month, according to sources, were: incumbent Laughlin, Marinaccio & Owens, Arlington, Va.; HMS Partners, Columbus, Ohio; and Seiter & Miller Advertising in New York, which has teamed with Grey Direct, New York, to pursue the account. A decision is expected by year-end. MASTERCARD LATIN AMERICA ENLISTS MCCANN ATLANTA-MasterCard has selected McCann-Erickson's Miami office to handle its estimated $15 million Latin American advertising account, the client confirmed last week. McCann bested J. Walter Thompson, also in Miami. MARTIN AGENCY PITCHES SOFTWARE AG BOSTON-At least six agencies are semifinalists for the estimated $5-7 million account of Software AG Americas in Reston, Va. The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; Ingalls Advertising, Boston; Mullen, Wenham, Mass.; and three New York shops, Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor; Hampel/Stefanides; and Merkley Newman Harty, are in the pitch. There is no incumbent. BLIMPIE'S GEORGIA CO-OP IS IN PLAY ATLANTA-The $500,000 Georgia co-op account for Blimpie Restaurants has gone into review, according to the client. Incumbent Basinger & Associates in Atlanta is participating in the review, along with five other undisclosed agencies. NATIONAL AQUARIUM PICKS 3 FINALISTS WASHINGTON, D.C.-The National Aquarium of Baltimore, according to sources, has narrowed the field for its $1 million-plus account to three finalists: Adworks of Washington, D.C., Richardson, Myers & Donofrio of Baltimore and one undisclosed agency.
