GSD&M Breaks Fix-a-Flat, Outlaw Campaigns
DALLAS--GSD&M, Austin, Texas, is launching new TV ads for Pennzoil Products' Fix-a-Flat and Outlaw brands. Two 30-second Fix-a-Flat spots begin airing exclusively on The Weather Channel this week. In one, a balloon floats above a road filled with sharp objects as a voiceover notes, "There are two kinds of drivers in this world: those who've had a flat tire and those who will." The tag is: "The name says it all." On April 13, Outlaw fuel additive TV ads will begin airing primarily on TNN and TBS. Print work will support.
VH-1 Nears Decision in Agency Review
DALLAS--The New York-based VH-1 music television channel may reach a decision in its agency search as early as this week, according to sources. GSD&M in Austin, Texas, and Rubin Postaer & Associates in Santa Monica, Calif., are in contention for the estimated $10 million account and recently completed presentations to the client. At least one other undisclosed agency is believed to be in the running.
Toyota to Sponsor Texaco CART Race
DALLAS--Toyota will be sponsoring this fall's Texaco Grand Prix in Houston as "official vehicles" to the event. The Texaco Grand Prix is the first international motorsports event to be held in Houston, featuring Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) racing through the downtown streets of the city. Toyota already holds a sponsorship as the "Official Truck of CART."
EvansGroup Redubs Promo Division
DALLAS--Salt Lake City-based EvansGroup has changed the name of promotional marketing unit The Strategic Group to StrategicPromotions. The division will remain headquartered in Dallas, sharing offices with sister company Evans Advertising and Public Relations. Managing director Grahame Hopkins remains in charge of the unit.
Wilson Lands TV, Radio for Lair Dealerships
DALLAS--After a review of undisclosed agencies, Kevin Wilson Advertising, Bedford, Texas, was awarded advertising duties for the Greg Lair auto dealership group in Canyon, Texas. Billings were undisclosed. Lair sells Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick cars. Its television spots will air in the Amarillo, Texas, market.
Durhman & Bassett Taps MAD House
DALLAS--Durhman & Bassett Realty Group of Austin, Texas, hired The McIntosh Advertising and Design House (The MAD House) to handle marketing chores. The agency's first task is developing print ads to promote the client's North Loop Plaza shopping center in Austin. Billings were undisclosed.
