C-K Readies Tollway Campaign
CHICAGO--Cramer-Krasselt here next month launches a TV and radio campaign for the Illinois Tollway Authority's new I-PASS system, which is set to replace manned booths and coin baskets in the coming year. The tollway assigned C-K a $1.5 million advertising and public relations project in August. The ad campaign mocks the old way of paying tolls, suggesting it caused such maladies as "coin-toss shoulder fatigue."
Burnett Wins Motorola Account
CHICAGO--Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector unit in Phoenix awarded a new, estimated $35 million global account to Leo Burnett here. Other finalists, according to sources, were Bozell Worldwide in New York and Foote, Cone & Belding in San Francisco.
Warwick Picked for Fruit of the Loom
NEW YORK--Warwick Baker O'Neill here won the estimated $20-25 million North American advertising account for Bowling Green, Ky.-based Fruit of the Loom, besting Mezzina/Brown, New York, and Lois/EJL, Chicago. Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, New York, had withdrawn as a finalist. Incumbent Leo Burnett, Toronto, resigned the business rather than participate in the review.
Cleveland Shop Reorganizes at the Top
CHICAGO--David Stashower announced his retirement as chairman and chief executive officer of Liggett-Stashower, Cleveland, but will work with the agency as an adviser. C. Henry Foltz, moves up from president to chairman. Terrence McGovern, previously executive vice president, becomes president and CEO. Ownership of the $76 million shop will now be held by 15 top executives, up from nine who previously had stakes in the company. Stashower joined Lang, Fisher & Stashower in 1954, and that shop merged with Carr-Liggett Advertising in 1987 to create the current agency.
Colle & McVoy Forms PR Alliance
CHICAGO--Colle & McVoy in Minneapolis formed an alliance with The Rowland Co., Saint Paul, Minn., whose employees and clients will be merged with Colle & McVoy's public relations group. The Rowland Co. is an affiliate of Rowland Worldwide, owned by Cordiant PLC in London.
