Miller Hears Lite Presentations
CHICAGO--Miller Brewing Co. could make a decision this week on creative duties for its $150 million Lite account after hearing presentations late last week from incumbent Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis; Wieden & Kennedy and Young & Rubicam, both New York; Square One, Dallas; and Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco. According to sources, however, Miller may ask selected agencies back this week to meet with executives from parent Philip Morris. Starcom Media Services here is Miller's media agency of record.
PentaMark's Clark Seeks No. 2 Executive
CHICAGO--PentaMark president and chief executive officer Tom Clark is looking for an executive to fill his president's post, and eventually succeed him as chairman, sources said. The BBDO Worldwide unit oversees the network's three Detroit-area agencies: BBDO Detroit, Ross Roy Communications and PentaCom, which buys media for DaimlerChrysler in North America. Clark, who is expected to retire within three years, is directing the search and would become chairman of the unit. Clark could not be reached for comment.
DMI Plans $50 Mil. Cheese Review
CHICAGO--Dairy Management Inc. said it expects to launch a "capabilities review" of agencies in several weeks for creative duties on its $50 million cheese account. As expected, Leo Burnett in Chicago said it has reached a "mutual decision" with Rosemont, Ill.-based DMI to drop the account. Media duties were moved from Burnett to TN Media, New York, last year.
Y&R Shakes It Up for Kraft
CHICAGO--The first campaign for Kraft Foods' Shake 'N Bake brand from Young & Rubicam here breaks this week. A TV spot shows a raw chicken being strapped into a paint shaker, which is then turned on. "Shake 'N Bake. Really shakes up chicken" is the tagline. A new Shake 'N Bake variety will be introduced with advertising in April.
TN Wants $60 Mil. From Publicis
CHICAGO--True North Communications has filed with the London Court of International Arbitration seeking more than $60 million in damages from French agency network Publicis. The December merger of Publicis Communication and Publicis S.A. left TN with an 8.8 percent ownership stake in the combined company, which TN considers an "inadequate exchange," according to a company statement.
NBC's Roker Truckin' for Riney and Budget
CHICAGO--Al Roker, weatherman on the NBC morning program Today, does the voiceover for a new Budget Rent a Car TV spot from Publicis & Hal Riney in Chicago that broke over the weekend. The spot airs in eight markets and touts the Ford Ranger pickup trucks available through Budget. "Get out of the ordinary" is the tagline. Starcom Media Services, Chicago, handles media.
