ATLANTA--Long Haymes Carr updates its popular "Be You" campaign for Hanes today with three new television spots. The ads again depict a variety of vignettes shot in letterboxed style and underscored with popular period music. This time, Perry Como, Cheryl Lynn and Muddy Waters sing for socks, boxers and briefs, respectively, with Michael Jordan appearing in the latter spot. TV is supported by print, point-of-sale displays and back-to-school consumer promotions. Both the client and agency are located in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Husky Hardwood Appoints Barber Martin
ATLANTA--Barber Martin Advertising has been hired by Husky Hardwood Floors, a manufacturer and retailer of pre-finished flooring, to create and execute a $1 million national advertising campaign. The Richmond, Va., shop will deliver a broadcast and print campaign for the Boston-based company in the fall. The client operates 15 stores in major U.S. metropolitan areas.
Fahlgren Promotes Nguyen to CD
ATLANTA--Dan Nguyen has been elevated to senior vice president and creative director at Fahlgren. Nguyen was previously senior art director at the agency in Tampa, Fla. He replaces Scott Sheinberg, who now heads the creative team at WestWayne's Tampa office. Two other Fahlgren creatives, senior copywriter James Rosene and senior art director John Stapleton, recently joined Sheinberg at WestWayne.
Airline to Help Weather-Bound Travelers
DALLAS--The Point Group has been chosen by American Airlines to coordinate the launch of a program to make severe weather delays at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport more passenger-friendly. AA Customer Assistance is a volunteer program that encourages staff at the airline's headquarters in Irving, Texas, to support field employees and assist passengers under adverse climatic conditions. The program also aims to improve communication between corporate and field employees. In addition, the Dallas agency is running ongoing print and collateral promotions for IdeAAs, a unit of American dedicated to generating employee suggestions that save the company money or improve worker safety.
Marketing Continuum Goes Extreme
DALLAS--Marketing Continuum has developed an identity package for a new line of high-performance wakeboards produced by Extreme Sports. The Dallas agency devised a logo and the brand name Origin for the line, aimed at 20-something male watersports enthusiasts. "When trying to capture the attention of this market, it's imperative that your quick message speak volumes," said agency president Dave Mullen. Austin-based Extreme Sports was founded in February.
