Murphy Named Grant/Jacoby President
CHICAGO--Andrea Murphy has been promoted to president of Grant/Jacoby, a $75 million agency here, from senior vice president and executive creative director. She succeeds Milt Lynnes, who retains the titles of chairman and chief executive officer. Bernie Pitzel succeeds Murphy as executive creative director.
Effies Go to 7 Midwest Shops
CHICAGO--Seven Midwest agencies are among winners of 1997 Effie Awards, to be presented June 4 by the New York American Marketing Association. Winners are BBDO, Southfield, Mich. (one award); Leo Burnett, Chicago (six); DDB Needham Chicago (three); Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis (six); Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago (two); Rodi Platcow Malin, Chicago (one); and J. Walter Thompson, Chicago (one). Agencies will learn in June if their awards are gold, silver or bronze.
Three More Shops Surface in Pearle Review
DALLAS--Publicis/Bloom and Gotham, both in New York, and J. Walter Thompson, Detroit, are among the first-round shops under consideration for the $25 million Pearle Vision Centers account, sources said last week. Executives at those agencies declined to comment. The agencies join previously identified contenders DDB Needham Dallas, Wyse Advertising in Cleveland and W.B. Doner & Co., Southfield, Mich. A decision is expected before July, when Pearle's relocation to Cleveland will be completed.
Needham in Canadian Club Talks
NEW YORK--DDB Needham here is the remaining agency in talks with Allied Domecq's Hiram Walker & Sons, regarding the review for its Canadian Club premium whiskey brand, sources said. Wells Rich Greene BDDP here; Bozell, Southfield, Mich.; and Hal Riney & Partners/Heartland and Lois/EJL, both in Chicago, were involved earlier, said these sources. Campbell Mithun Esty, Minneapolis, previously handled the account, which has been inactive.
Buresh to Head Bozell Kamstra
CHICAGO--Dean Buresh has rejoined Bozell Kamstra in Minneapolis as president after a brief stint at Gage Marketing, also in Minneapolis. Buresh will head a new national network of Bozell Kamstra offices specializing in business-to-business advertising. A second office will be located in Austin, Texas, with additional locations expected to be announced within the next three months.
New Holiday Inn Spot from Fallon
CHICAGO--Holiday Inn Worldwide broke a second spot last week from Fallon McElligott in Minneapolis. The agency's first spot was pulled following its Super Bowl debut. The new spot, 'Change the Room,' shows maids quickly refurbishing a room, with saws and hammers, as part of the chain's remodeling program.
