A Latino Network Chooses Garcia/LKS
DALLAS--SiTV, an English-language Latino cable television and satellite channel scheduled to launch later this year, has chosen GarciaLKS Advertising as its agency for both Hispanic and mainstream marketing. GarciaLKS partners Lionel Sosa and Luis Garcia will personally head the creative team that will handle strategic development, marketing, visual presentations and advertising for Los Angeles-based SiTV. Annual billings were not disclosed. The San Antonio-based agency's other clients include Anheuser-Busch, Quepasa.com, TransAmerica, Mexicana Airlines and the George W. Bush presidential campaign.
A Haynes Gains $3 Mil. in Car Dealer Billings
DALLAS--The Freeman Family has added Honda, GMC, Jeep and Pontiac dealerships to its existing automobile dealers account at Haynes Media & Marketing. The added business represents an estimated increase of $3 million in capitalized billings. The Houston agency already handles Toyota, Oldsmobile, Mazda, Hyundai and Pontiac dealerships for Freeman in Dallas, as well as several dealers in New Mexico. The agency plans to use radio as the primary promotional medium. A print component will support the broadcast effort.
A Gleason/Calise Breaks 'Outlive the Hype'
DALLAS--A national network radio campaign broke last week urging technology job seekers to "outlive the hype" and check out ComputerJobs.com, an info-tech employment Web site. Created by Dallas-based agency Gleason/Calise/Associates for its Atlanta client, the work lampoons typical, over-the-top recruitment ads. A quiet voice initially breaks into a loud "commercial" and admonishes job seekers to "outlive your code and upgrade your future." Radio advertising is the first phase of multimillion dollar multimedia campaign.
A Makos to Promote Bryan-College Station
DALLAS--Makos Advertising, Marketing and Design has won the advertising account of the Bryan-College Station Economic Development Corp. following a review. The Austin, Texas, agency's mission is to help attract technology companies and other businesses to the midsize community, home of Texas A&M University. The marketing pact is the client's first with an outside agency.
A OfficeMax Conducts Separate Reviews
CHICAGO--OfficeMax has sent out proposal requests for its $20 million dot.com business, sources said. Separately, the Shaker Heights, Ohio-based retailer is considering Doner, Southfield, Mich., and Publicis & Hal Riney, Chicago, for its $60 million bricks and mortar account [Adweek, Jan. 17], sources said. Incumbent Campbell-Ewald Advertising is not participating in the reviews.
A Euro RSCG Bests Burnett for Airline Alliance
CHICAGO--Euro RSCG Worldwide has won ad duties for the unnamed alliance of Delta Air Lines, Air France and Aeromexico, sources said. The other contender was Leo Burnett, which has Delta's $100 million global account. Euro RSCG in Paris won Air France's $39 million business last year. Billings for the alliance were not disclosed.
