A Periscope to Push Public Transportation
CHICAGO--The American Public Transportation Association tapped Periscope as its agency of record to create a national awareness and image campaign for public transit. The Minneapolis agency was awarded the five-year contract after a review of several undisclosed national agencies. Industry sources estimated billings for the Washington, D.C., client at $15-20 million per year.
A Cross Poised to Name Carmichael Lynch
BOSTON--A.T. Cross this week is expected to name Carmichael Lynch to handle its $7 million ad account, sources said. But Judy Neer, a review consultant at Pile and Co. in Boston said Friday it would be "premature" to say the Minneapolis agency had won. Bates, New York, also competed for the Lincoln, R.I., pen maker.
A BBDO Fits EthnicGrocer.com on Its Plate
CHICAGO--The debut campaign from BBDO, Chicago, for EthnicGrocer.com, scheduled to break in summer, will employ the tagline, "Now the world fits on your plate," the client confirmed. Other elements of the creative are still being worked out.
A 6 to Pitch Boating & Fishing Foundation
BOSTON--The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation will hear from six agencies interested in handling its advertising assignment, valued at $36 million over five years. In the running for the Alexandria, Va., account are: Austin Kelley Advertising, Atlanta; Carmichael Lynch and Martin/Williams, both in Minneapolis; The Richards Group, Dallas; Loeffler Ketchum Mountjoy, Charlotte, N.C.; and Long Haymes Carr, Winston-Salem, N.C. Finalists will be determined this month with a decision coming in early May, said Judy Neer of Pile and Co., the Boston consulting firm overseeing the review.
A Saatchi Dismisses Itself From Army Pitch
ATLANTA--Saatchi & Saatchi withdrew from the U.S. Army's $115 million review. The New York shop was replaced by Ogilvy & Mather, New York. Other contenders are: The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; Arnold Communications, Boston; Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich.; DDB and Leo Burnett, both in Chicago; and McCann-Erickson, New York. New York incumbent Young & Rubicam declined to defend.
