Cooper Tools Assigns Business To Loeffler
ATLANTA--Cooper Tools of Raleigh, N.C., has placed its advertising account with Loeffler Ketchum Mountjoy in Charlotte, N.C. The agency will be responsible for international marketing. Billings were not disclosed. Cooper markets its tools under the brand names Campbell, Crescent, Diamond, Erem, Lufkin, Nicholson, Plumb, H.K. Porter, Weller, Wire-Wrap, Wiss and Xcelite. "[The] agency knows how to position and build a brand, and is one the most creatively recognized agencies in the nation," said Gene Huegin, director of channel marketing for the client.
NationsBank, BofA Begin Agency Review
DALLAS--The pending merger of NationsBank and Bank of America has opened a review for what insiders believe will be a consolidated $85 million account. Roster shops were contacted last week and are awaiting details on how the review will proceed. The search may be opened to nonroster agencies, according to one source. Temerlin McClain, Irving, Texas, is agency of record for NationsBank. Deutsch, New York and Marina del Ray, Calif., handles creative and print media buying duties for Bank of America, while GSD&M, Austin, Texas, is responsible for BofA's broadcast buying. Client and agency executives declined comment. The merger, which will create the nation's largest bank, is expected to close Oct. 1.
Less of Merged Name Is More at Woofgang
ATLANTA--Having merged their shops earlier this year, officials with Greenville, S.C.'s Phillips & Goot and Greg & Greg have traded in Phillips Goot Greg & Greg in favor of Woofgang Brand Development. "Phillips Goot Greg & Greg was just too damn long," said agency president Mike Goot. "It failed the receptionist test. Miserably." The agency officially assumed its new name at the beginning of July.
'Shoot' Places Endres & Wilson in Top 6
ATLANTA--Shoot, which covers the commercial production and post-production business, has named Endres & Wilson, Nashville, Tenn., as one of the six hottest broadcast agencies in America. "Endres & Wilson's TV campaign for Saint Thomas Health Services is easily one of the most convincing campaigns to air this year," said Shoot editor Richard Linnett. The campaign followed an actual patient going through diagnosis, surgery and recovery from a heart ailment.
Berger Seeks Ad Partner for Mutual Funds
CHICAGO--The Berger Funds, a division of Denver-based mutual fund company Berger Associates, is contacting agencies regarding its advertising account. Sources valued the business at $10-12 million, but a client official said he expected spending to be less. Berger Associates spent $4.5 million on advertising last year, according to Competitive Media Reporting. Darlene DeRemer of DeRemer & Associates in Wrentham, Mass., is the consultant.
