Loyola Medical Center Reviewing CHICAGO--Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., confirmed it is in the "early stages" of a review of its estimated $5 million account. W.B. Doner & Co.'s Baltimore office was awarded the account in 1996. The agency could not be reached for comment on whether or not it will participate in the review. Contender Emerges in Fallon Search NEW YORK--The chief executive of a headhunting firm here has emerged as a leading contender in Fallon McElligott's search for a permanent president for its New York office. Sources said Alison Burns of KTNY, a branch of London-based Kendall Tarrant plc, could be named president as early as next week. The agency declined comment, however, noting that it was still talking to candidates. Burns could not be reached last Friday. Bill Westbrook, president of Minneapolis-based Fallon McElligott, continues as interim president of the office here. Kraft Cuts List in Promotions Consolidation CHICAGO--Kraft Foods said last week it had narrowed the list of contenders for its general market and ethnic consumer promotions business and was notifying agencies no longer under consideration. The Northfield, Ill., company is expected next week to announce the agencies selected to handle its consolidated promotions and direct marketing accounts. True North Bundles Promo Units NEW YORK--True North Communications announced its promotional marketing units will be clustered under the aegis of the Promotion Services Group within TN Diversified Companies. The units are McCracken Brooks, Minneapolis; Market Growth Resources and Performance Media, both in Wilton Conn.; and The Properties Group and The Peterson Group, both New York. Strike Forces GM to Begin Cutting Ad Schedules DETROIT--General Motors is reducing ad spending to cut costs while a parts plant strike shuts down most of its North American assembly operations. The automaker is cutting print and TV spots scheduled to run through the end of July, said Donna Fontana, a GM public relations manager. "We will review the situation on a daily and weekly basis," she said. A few GM brands will continue to receive some support, but "it's not going to be a lot," Fontana said. She would not name the brands. Magazine ads already in production will still run. GM's MediaWorks unit in Warren, Mich., handles broadcast and print buying for the automaker. Boise Cascade Selects Bader Rutter CHICAGO--Bader Rutter & Associates in Brookfield, Wis., won the $1-3 million business-to-business account of Boise Cascade Office Products, Itasca, Ill., following a review. Incumbent Grant/Jacoby, Chicago, did not participate.
