Earle Palmer Brown Acquires KSK
ATLANTA--New York's Earle Palmer Brown announced last week the acquisition of KSK Communications of Vienna, Va. KSK, which had billings of $25.9 million in 1998, will retain its current name, executive team, staff and location as it operates as an autonomous subsidiary of EPB Partners. EPB chairman and chief executive officer Jeb Brown said KSK Communications "is our first totally integrated shop that specializes in high-tech clients."
WestWayne Recruits Johnson for New Post
ATLANTA--Jeff Johnson, previously an account
executive at New York's defunct Wells Rich Green, is on the verge of signing a contract that will create a new management position for him at Atlanta-based WestWayne, according to industry sources. Johnson will reportedly be named president of the agency's Florida operations in Miami and Tampa. He is expected to begin in the new executive post at the end of July. Officials with WestWayne had no comment at press time last Friday.
Sealy Mattresses Reduces Review to 5
ATLANTA--Sealy Mattresses has picked five Southeast contenders in its $15 million account review to replace Leo Burnett of Chicago. The High Point, N.C.-based mattress maker has reportedly selected The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; Long Haymes Carr, Winston-Salem, N.C.; McKinney & Silver, Raleigh, N.C.; Price/McNabb, Charlotte, N.C.; and Trone Advertising, also in High Point. According to sources, Sealy will make a cut to 2-3 finalists that will pitch at its offices later this month.
Duck Head Apparel Does a 360
ATLANTA--Duck Head Apparel of Winder, Ga., has chosen 360 here as the winner in its $900,000 review. The other finalist was Doe-Anderson Advertising and Public Relations in Louisville, Ky. Duck Head chief executive officer Robert Rockey said 360 was the "obvious choice."
Middleton Pest Control Taps Push
ATLANTA--Push has been hired by Middleton Pest Control to provide branding and consumer marketing services. Both companies are located in Orlando, Fla. A half-dozen Central Florida agencies originally pitched the business prior to a cut that left Push and Anson-Stoner of Winter Park, Fla., competing for the $800,000 account.
Match Lands BidTripper.com's Branding
ATLANTA--Match here has been awarded branding and advertising duties for BidTripper.com, a new Internet auction site that will debut later this summer. The Boulder, Colo.-based company's Web venue is designed to help small Caribbean resort properties auction unsold rooms, allowing vacationers instant access to low off-season rates.
