"Ayres Joins TBWA as N.Y. Office Taps Head Planner
NEW YORK-Ruth Ayres, marketing director at N.W. Ayer & Partners, is joining TBWA Worldwide here as worldwide marketing director, a new post, sources said. Her mission: attract global clients. A search for a successor at Ayer will soon be under way, said sources. Separately, TBWA/Chiat/Day here has promoted assistant planning director David Hackworthy to director of planning in the wake of Megan Kent's recent departure. Hackworthy, 34, was planning director at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles here before joining TBWA/C/D several months ago.

Los angeles-Boeing has narrowed the field of contenders to about 10 for its estimated $30 million account, said Clark McCann, director of advertising at the aerospace client. Sources said participants include: McCann-Erickson and D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, both Los Angeles; Young & Rubicam and J. Walter Thompson, both San Francisco; and Ogilvy & Mather, New York, which is pitching with its Seattle subsidiary Cole & Weber, the incumbent. Geduldig & Ferguson, New York, is overseeing the search.
"Y&R Names New Financial Officers
NEW YORK-Gary Lee has been named worldwide chief financial officer of Young & Rubicam, replacing Jacques Tortoroli, who moves to svp of finance at parent Y&R Inc. Lee, 50, former CFO at Ogilvy & Mather North America, starts July 1. Tortoroli replaces John Wozniak, who became worldwide CFO of Sudler & Hennessey, Y&R's healthcare unit. Wozniak fills a position previously held by Brian Harris, who is now svp of financial operations at Y&R Inc.

BOSTON-Holland Mark Martin Edmund has landed the $5-10 million Dreyfus Corp. account, besting Ingalls, Boston and Berlin Cameron & Partners, New York, sources said. Grace & Rothschild in New York was the incumbent.

The online art "superstore" said it plans to spend $3-5 million this year, and up to $20 million next year ... Della Femina/Jeary and Partners, New York, has won creative and media duties for Meredith Publishing Group. Billings are estimated at $2 million. Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, was the incumbent ...
